Harry (Pete) Nyce passed away on Oct. 6 peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was born in 1944 to Harry and Arlene Nyce in Jacksonville, FL and was an only child.

Harry was a loving husband and father, survived by his wife of 44 years, Tina and son, Tim of Carrollton. Also sisters-in-law Barbara Stutzman, Lewisville and Cathryn Walker, Destin, FL.

Harry graduated from Penn Charter school, Philadelphia and Colby College in Maine. Growing up spending every summer at the New Jersey shore, Harry loved the water. He was a beach lifeguard for the summers while in high school and college and continued his love of the ocean not only swimming, but sailing and racing small and large sailboats, surfing, scuba diving and becoming an accomplished windsurfer on local lakes after moving to Dallas from the Philadelphia area.

His other love was playing pool, and he had many close friends who shared this passion in Dallas. Although suffering from his heart condition, he continued to swim and exercise.

Harry expressed his creativity through playing classical guitar, painting, and creating various objet d’art. He rekindled his interest in music during the past year by taking up the ukulele and writing music. He also enjoyed studying works of art, particularly sculpture.

He loved his dear friends, business associates, extended family and Florida. He cherished entertaining people with good food and wine, always finding a way to make people smile. Due to the current virus situation, no service is planned at this time. In the future, Harry’s ashes will be scattered in the Florida waves.

We wish to thank the outstanding physicians, nurses and staff at UT Southwestern for the wonderful care they provided Harry to give us more time with him.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to UT Southwestern Medical Center of Dallas or a charity of your choice.
